Thailand has continually been a main sojourn on everyone’s holiday plans to Asia. Pattaya is one of the hottest cities to see for many people traveling the place. This has not been a popular getaway for families as it appeals to a certain segment of tourists with more prurient interests. This is not a representation that the local government likes and they have been working persistently to alter it.

There has been a large push by the Pattaya city council has been hard at work trying to revitalize the city’s image. They are slowly pushing the beer bars back or knocking them down so that they can put up new shopping malls and high rise hotels. The other thing that Pattaya is working on is trying to improve the infrastructure of the city, which is no small task.

Another thing the city of Pattaya is doing is to increase their marketing to many areas around the world. They want to obtain travelers from all over the globe to experience a new vacation and try South East Asia travel. There has been a significant increase in tourist numbers from these areas. Whether or not this is actually a good thing is still being debated. A big criticism of these new breed of tourists is that they don’t spend the same amount of money that the others did.

While they were hoping these new visitors would be spending large amounts of money at the malls they are instead spending now money at the beach. There is no where near the same amount of money flowing into the Pattaya economy when compared to the tourists they are trying to replace.

The business impact is huge, you now see some long standing small businesses closing up shop.

There are now a lot of people questioning whether the decision by the Pattaya government was a good one or causing more problems than it solved. Many people have their doubts as to the success this new marketing campaign will hold.
